People’s Forum on Peace for Life
지난 4월 8일부터 10일까지 케냐 나이로비에서는 "Peace for Life" 실행위와 프로그램이 있었다. 이 단체는2004년 필리핀 나바오에서 창립된 모임이다. 이 단체와 관련이 있는 케냐의 아프리카 기독교인-무슬림 관계를 위한 프로그램’ (The Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa: PROCMURA) 모임에서 이 모임의 호스트였다. 이 모임을 주도한 핵심 인사중 하나인 김용복 박사등은 당시 케냐에서 일어난 알-샤바브라 (Al-Shabbab)라는 테러집단에 대한 입장을 발표하였다. 이 태러로 희생당한 이들은 단순히 기독교인이라는 이유였는 데 다시는 이런 불행이 재현되지 않아야 한다는 입장에서 희생당한 가리샤 대학의 148명의 학생들을 위한 추모의 입장을 담고 있다.

‘생명을 위한 평화 민중포럼 (People’s Forum on Peace for Life)’ 입장
케냐 가리사 대학에서 희생당한 148명의 학생들과 노동자들의 피해자와 가족들과 연대하며
우리는 전 세계에서 사회운동을 하는 ‘생명을 위한 평화’ (Peace for Life)의 실행위원과 프로그램 위원으로케냐, 잠비아, 필리핀, 한국, 탄자니아, 인도에서 온 기독교인들과 무슬림들이다.
우리는 지난 4월8일부터 10일까지 케냐 나이로비에서 ‘아프리카 기독교인-무슬림 관계를 위한 프로그램’ (The Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa: PROCMURA) 의 후원으로 모였는데 이 시기는 케냐에서단순히 기독교인이라는 이유로 알-샤바브라 (Al-Shabbab)라는 테러집단에 의해 비참하게 희생당한 148명의 학생들을 위해 추모하는 때였다.
우리는 지속적인 평화를 갈망하는 케냐인들에게 깊은 애도를 보내며 가리사 대학살에 의해 직접적으로 피해를 입은 당사자들과 연대한다.
우리는 이 같은 테러를 강력히 규탄하며, 무고한 젊은이들의 희생에 슬픔을 같이 하며, 생존자들의 치유를 위해 기도하고, 젊은 학생들과 노동자들의 부모와 친지, 그리고 그들의 가족과 친구들과 깊은 슬픔을 같이 한다.
우리는 평화를 사랑하는 모든 무슬림들과 기독교인들이 어려운 이 시기에 함께 테러를 규탄하고, 종교의 이름으로 저질러지는 극단주의를 배격하는 일에 연대하며, 갈등을 해결하기 위하여 평화적인 방법을 모색하듯이, 케냐의 정의와 평화를 위해서 함께 모든 노력을 다 할 것을 요청한다.
우리는 이번 테러에 또 다른 폭력으로 대응하는 것이 아니라 모든 케냐인과 평화를 위해 투쟁하는 세계의 모든 사람들과 함께 평화를 만드는 일에 참여함으로 케냐 시민의 안전을 보장하기를 케냐 정부와 국제적인 단체들에게 강력히 권고한다. 평화는 사회변화와 모든 사람들의 존엄과 권리를 위해 반드시 필요하다.
‘생명을 위한 평화 (Peace for Life)’는 신앙을 바탕으로 하는 평화와 정의 운동이고, 종교간의 연대를 위한 포럼으로, 생명을 파괴하는 제국의 세력에 저항하는 영적인 힘을 모으는 단체다.

We, Muslims and Christians from Kenya, Zambia, Philippines, South Korea, Tanzania and India who are members of the Working Group and Program Teams of Peace for Life (PFL), representing social movements around the world;
Gathered here in Nairobi, Kenya,8 to 10 April 2015and hosted by the Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa (PRCMURA) notice that we are meeting at a time when Kenya is in mourning for her 148 students who were mercilessly massacred by members of the Al-Shabbab terror Group for the sole reason of being Christians.
We join Kenyans who aspire for sustainable peace in the land to express our heartfelt grief, and solidarity with all who are directly affected by the Garissa massacre.
We, strongly condemn this act of terror lament the loss of young innocent lives; pray for healing for all survivors of these violent acts; Stand in deep sympathy with all the parents and relatives of the young students and workers and their families and friends.
We call upon all peace loving Muslims and Christians to stand together at this difficult time and be united in their condemnation of terror, reject acts of extremism in the name of religion and make all efforts to work together for justice and peace in Kenya as they seek peaceful means toresolve any conflict.
We urge the Kenyan government and the international community to work together to ensure the safety of all citizens by not engaging in further violent responses to this terror attack, and engage in peace building with all Kenyans andwith all peoples of the world who are struggling for peace. Peace is essential for social transformation, and for the attainment of dignity and rights for all people.
